WHAT DOES AN IRS ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN DO?
As an IRS Accounting Technician you’ll develop thorough knowledge of
our computerized accounting system. You’ll review documents and
transactions for completeness, accuracy and regulatory compliance,
process invoices, compute changes, determine if increases are
legitimate and authorized, and assign classification codes.
Program areas include Accounts Receivable, Collections, Disbursements
and Quality Assurance.
WHAT IS THE CFO DIVISION?
The IRS Chief Financial Officer (CFO) organization is responsible for
the custodial accounting of over $2 trillion in taxpayer payments, as
well as for managing the IRS’ $10 billion annual operating budget. In
addition, the CFO advises the IRS Commissioner and other top
executives on issues dealing with financial management, financial
systems, strategic planning, performance management, budget
formulation, budget execution, and internal controls.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
* You must be a citizen of the United States.
* Males born after 12/31/59-Selective Service Registration required.
* Fingerprint- Tax Check- Personal Identity Verification (PIV).
* Background and/or Security Investigation required.
