Job Posting Summary The University of Alaska Fairbanks is the state’s flagship research institution and the only doctoral-granting university in the state. It is located in the interior of Alaska in the state’s second largest city of 80,000 people. The School of Education at UAF has pre-service and certification programs in elementary and secondary education as well as over 100 graduate students in our M.Ed. programs. The School is committed to culturally responsive education, especially for Alaska Natives who make up the largest minority group in the state.
We seek an individual at the assistant or associate professor level for this tenure-track, tripartite appointment. The successful candidate will teach graduate-level courses, maintain an active research agenda, and advise/mentor graduate students from diverse backgrounds. We especially encourage individuals with experience in diverse K-12 educational settings to apply.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position. Ability to teach a range of graduate level C&I courses
Ability to advise and mentor students
Ability to maintain an active research agenda
Ability to serve on a number of unit-level and campus-wide committees
Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses). Must have Ph.D or Ed.D in Education or closely related field in hand by time of appointment.
Length of time and type of experience required for this position. Successful experience in K-12 education
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position. Successful experience in teaching and/or working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations (e.g., schools, families, communities).
