The Department of English at Georgetown University has a vacancy for an Academic Coordinator to assist the Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies in the overall running of the BA and MA degree programs. Undergraduate duties include: assist in course scheduling and posting of course descriptions and other tasks related to the undergraduate major/minor; work with the Registrar’s Office to ensure the schedule of classes is completed accurately and punctually; coordinate student applications for awards, honors program, etc. Graduate duties include: coordinate admissions and matriculation process, including scholarship/stipend awards; new student orientation; assist with graduate program recruiting efforts, including speaking with prospective applicants, chat sessions, campus visits, etc. Will work with the offices of Student Employment regarding award stipends and scholarships and the Graduate School regarding admissions and degree progress of students. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining and updating the department web site and staffing the Department’s main reception area/answering phones in absence of student workers.
Academic Requirements: College degree; minimum 2 years full-time office experience; previous university work experience preferred;. Must be able to interact with a wide variety of faculty and students in a pleasant and tactful fashion; excellent organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented. This is a term position.
