This is a 6 month temporary, 1st shift, weekday position. This position does have the potential to go permanent.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will assist in the development of expression/purification platforms for the generation of recombinant and native proteins. This includes molecular, biological and cellular manipulations necessary to generate prokaryotic and eukaryotic production strains.
More specifically, you will:
- generate bacterial, baculoviral, or eukaryotic vectors for the expression of key proteins
- introduce vectors into target cells
- optimize expression conditions to maximize yield of active protein
- develop scalable harvest/lysis conditions to maximize yield
- maintain and scale-up cultures to produce needed material quantities
- design and execute optimal purification processes
- conduct in-process/release testing of target protein by SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, immunoassays, and protein concentration determinations
- perform general lab upkeep and other duties as assigned.
To qualify for this role, you need:
- a BS or MS in biology, biochemistry, or related field
- Practical work experience in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, transformation, etc.)
- Practical work experience in culturing of bacterial, insect, and mammalian hosts
- Practical work experience in recombinant protein purification and generation of recombinant expression strains
- Familiarity with BSL-2 work practices and willingness to work in BSL-2 and in a 4-degree Celsius coldroom.
