Job Description Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions is looking for an experienced Business Process Analyst to drive requirements gathering and process analysis in collaboration with both the business and technology teams as part of a larger organizational transformation initiative. We’re looking for someone with strong a background in defining and eliciting requirements from business users, documenting current-state and future state processes and conducting gap analysis between the two.

Responsibilities will include:

Elicit requirements from business community using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.

Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders; review, analyze, and evaluate user needs;

Collaborate with eLearning and Technology teams to convey, clarify, and/or improve the stated requirements and solutions.

Create detailed requirements documentation, including text, examples, workflows, and other diagrams where appropriate to facilitate understanding of the requirements

Write requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely

Manage the requirements specifications, working as part of a team of in-house staff and outside consultants to confirm and implement the required changes

Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests and solution ideas from the underlying true requirements

Work with the project leadership to document the product’s future-state vision and the project’s scope

Analyze systems and document current-state processes

Conduct current-state vs. future-state gap analysis and identify gaps and opportunities; document steps to remediate gap

Serve as the conduit between the business community and the eLearning and Technology teams through which requirements flow.

Acquire and impart business knowledge to the development team regarding the functionality of assigned applications and workflow processes

Contribute knowledge and support to QA and UAT teams throughout the process of testing the application’s workflow and functionality

Provide project/program manager with timely updates on the progress of assigned tasks

Required:

College degree (computer-related degree preferable)

5+ years of experience in an IT organization

3-5 years experience in a business analyst role, including experience writing business requirements documents and QA test plans

Strongly Desired:

Strong UML Knowledge and experience is creating Use Cases, Activity diagrams, functional specifications

Expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Visio

Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.

Extremely strong interpersonal, interviewing, and listening skills

Proven ability to work directly with the business community, handle demanding user groups, and communicate with internal clients at all enterprise levels

Writing skills, capability to communicate information effectively and provide quality documentation of processes

Organizational skills, strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, handle diverse situations, set goals, and meet deadlines

Motivation to work efficiently with minimal supervision, willingness to take initiative and employ good follow-through skills

Ability to learn new concepts, systems, and software independently and quickly

Attention to process and procedures to comply with internal/external audits
