Overview:
Position Objective:

This individual will be responsible for obtaining, maintaining and expanding CPA professional alliances with Guardian, piloting and implementing a replicable and scalable “360 Professional Alliance” program model, training field Financial Representatives (FR’s), and executing marketing initiatives targeting CPA’s as independent sales agents for Guardian individual and small business services.

The CPA Business Developer will exert influence without authority on the independent General Agency and its FR’s to implement and grow an effective business development model targeting small business opportunities through strategic partnerships with local and regional Certified Public Accountants. The individual will be required to interface effectively with Home Office, where the majority of program development and marketing support will take place. Additionally, the incumbent will influence and partner with FR’s to secure new CPA business partnership and manage existing CPA relationship and alliances, thereby increasing production by an established annual sales goal.

This is a unique opportunity to manage and implement a new and critical initiative. If successful, the incumbent may have opportunity to advance as the initiative is replicated and scaled out to other regional markets.

1) Must be able to sell to, foster relationships with, and exert influence on independent Financial Representatives, General Agents, and Certified Public Accountants — without authority, while managing and growing CPA alliances.
2) Must be able to oversee project implementation and meet target dates & timely goals
3) Must be able to work effectively with and under the direction of Guardian Home Office from a remote location.
4) Must be able to work independently to drive program success and multi-task.

Principal Accountabilities:

Activity

Court, partner with, and manage alliance partnerships with independent CPA’s. Influence and partner with FR’s within a Minneapolis General Agency to create new CPA professional alliances.

Manage and train Financial Representatives.

Assist in all aspects of a Pilot CPA Business Development model, working with Home Office management and marketers, while relaying relevant feedback from the field on how best to improve the program model. Track and measure performance and production.

Work with Home Office to execute and enhance marketing materials and marketing strategy to more effectively ally with CPA’s and their respective businesses and networks.

Qualifications:

Skills and Knowledge:

Competencies/Skills: Must be flexible in the face of ambiguity and change. Must have excellent communication skills and proven ability to sell and market a new initiative to independent business partners. Must be organized and adept at multi-tasking. Must be an effective trainer and motivator with the ability to perform extensive follow-up with independent agents.

Knowledge: It is helpful to be knowledgeable regarding a General Agency distribution model. Life, health, and accident insurance licensure preferred.

Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)

Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience required. Sales, management and/or training experience preferred.

Other Requirements:

Must be available to travel 75% of the time.

Must have or obtain Life and Health Insurance licenses.

Must have or obtain Series 6 & 63 or 7 Securities license.
