Director Technology
Responsible for leading and managing direction of the information architecture department for the Wellpoint family of companies.

Cost center management which includes budgeting, forecasting and management of a set cost center budget.

Develop project and resource management processes that allow effective participation by Information Architecture in all critical internal projects while building foundational artifacts.

Manage the delivery of stable, secure, reliable, compliant, and cost effective technology services including the assignment of architecture resources to projects based on skill sets and resource availability.

Implement the department’s Operating Model. Demonstrate progress through improved execution and performance measurement. Ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities as they relate to other functions within the enterprise from both a support and project standpoint.

Drive the creation of alternative data sources for core platforms to increase reliability.

Build IA frameworks and foundations that are desired and used by application development teams.

Develop a library of data flow diagrams, data integration patterns and canonical models for subject areas across the enterprise to be used as reference for integration efforts.

Support the migration to our future platform strategy with Metadata management for services and Master data storage and integration patterns to optimize availability

Visually communicate interface, touch points, and master data movement flows across the enterprise’s multiple core systems and for each of the company’s market segments.

Specific focus on online, transactional, and services information architecture aspects (as opposed to reporting and data warehousing) – need help with this.

Communicate clear expectations of where Information Architecture plays in the planning and design phases of the SDLC, Engagement Model and with other parts of Enterprise Architecture. Participate in the development of medium- and long-term strategy for Information Architecture at WellPoint.

Optimize the availability and reliability of WellPoint’s Information Asset by building processes to manage all aspects of the Data Life Cycle in partnership with WellPoint Business and IT.

Management duties include hiring, training, coaching, counseling and evaluating performance of direct reports. Resource motivation and retention in a high-paced environment; staff development via personnel development plans, training plans, skill deficiency remediation etc.

Deliver on management commitments for culture, leadership and workforce development while establishing a work place environment that attracts and retains highly skilled leaders and associates.

Develop actionable Infrastructure Architecture communications that focuses on increasing architecture, technical, consultation and business literacy and promotes effective two-way communications

Skills:
Requires BS/BA in Computer Science or related field; 5-8 years of information systems and management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Knowledge of Healthcare Insurance is strongly preferred. A high level of both technical and logical understanding of database architecture, data architecture, data flows, master data management and data integration is preferred. MBA preferred. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
