RESPONSIBILITY:
Works under the supervision of the manager and/or educator. Provides assistance with child care activities as needed. Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of educational groups (i.e. art, music and movement, dance) while considering the needs of the students. Knowledgeable of emotional, social, physical, communicative and cognitive development of children with special needs. Must possess and demonstrate effective written communication skills for record keeping and report writing. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:
· Assists Educator with child care activities as directed.
· Plans, develops, coordinates and implements educational group activities such as art, music, or dance, for example, which consider the individual needs, interests, abilities, and developmental levels of the students while under the supervision of an Educator.
· Communicates with the Educators and others concerned regarding progress, problems or other issues related to the educational process. Confers with other professionals about the goals and objectives for the students.
· Maintain records on each student’s progress and evaluate the students through observation, interview and objective measures.
· Establishes and communicates to students well-defined objectives for each activity or project
· Monitors all inventories and assures adequate stock is available.
· Follows procedures in disinfecting/maintaining designated supplies, toy, and keeps classroom area organized and orderly.
· Ensures/maintains cleanliness of assigned areas.
· Will assist and be responsible for record audits.
· Organizes and maintains classroom database.
· Daily preparation of attendance and superbills as needed.
EDUCATION: Minimum of two years of college preferably in field of education, psychology, art,
music, or dance
EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience with children with special needs; previous health care
experience a plus. Basic knowledge of mechanical skills to perform light repair and maintenance of equipment. Good organizer; once job is learned can prioritize independently. Fluent in English, for conversation, reading and writing. Spanish a plus, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Physical Demands: Requires standing, walking and other movement for extended periods of time, the ability to move with in and between rooms where patients are treated, the ability to position, transfer and ambulate patients. Requires the ability to move equipment occasionally requiring the force to push/pull 20 pounds and frequently requiring the force to push/pull 10 pounds. Precise hand eye coordination and finger dexterity is required to perform treatments. Requires the ability to visually distinguish letters and symbols and visually assess the patient. Must be able to don personal protective equipment.
Mental Demands: Requires the ability to problem solve to adapt standard nursing procedures to the individual client’s need, the ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions. Must be able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families and co-workers. Requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
