Job Description
Finance & Business Management’s goals are to ensure a sound control environment and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within the IB F&BM Reconciliation and Global Control Team, the five main areas of responsibility are: 1) General ledger and Cash Reconciliation, 2) Legal Entity control, 3) SOX, CSA and GLRS Program Management, 4) Strategic Project Management and 5) Global Consistency, LOB Reporting and Risk Assessment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The Shared Accounting & Control Reconciliation Manager lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for a team of reconciliation specialists. The team will be required to work closely with the line of business controllers, middle office and operations areas to understand the operational impact of trading strategies and settlement practices for the businesses globally.
* Work with the middle office to ensure trade bookings agree between front and back office systems and ultimately the general ledger
* Work with various areas to research, escalate, and clear cash and settlement exceptions in a timely manner
* Work with the businesses and financial control to ensure understanding and sign off of monthly P&L
* Manage Cash Reconciliation team
* Completion of monthly GLRS process
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
* 2-5 years experience performing investment accounting preferred
* Bachelors degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience)
* Basic understanding of securities and derivatives products
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Comfort liaising with business and risk managers
* Ability to build and maintain partnerships within the various product aligned businesses and across other groups
* Ability to understand business drivers and requirements and influence middle and front office partners to deliver solutions to business issues and problems
* Able to critically challenge with the goal of identifying control issues
* Strong analytical skills: Ability to quickly understand workings of a complex processing system and general ledger systems across the infrastructure and their interrelationships and dependencies
* Excellent desktop/spreadsheet/database skills
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
* Ability to multi-task in a constantly changing environment
* Strong people management skills
* Experience in managing mid size teams
The candidate must be a highly-motivated individual and must be able to handle a high level of complexity in their product coverage, be able to shift focus of task with relative ease and be flexible enough in shifting workload in accordance with changing priorities, and be comfortable dealing with a sometimes stressful and fast-paced trading and month end priority-driven environment.
