Provide professional nutrition services and programs/interventions to all Government beneficiaries including active duty military, military family members, DoD civilians, and retirees. Responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all HAWC nutrition-related interventions and services to include: support to medical staff, targeted education, worksite and community programs, collaboration and coalition building, health communication, recommending policy and environment change to leadership IAW Air Force instructions, guidelines, and population needs in support of the local HPP action plans. Administers nutrition assessment, prescriptions and counseling, comprehensive nutrition prevention programs, limited disease management protocols with a nutrition component and various other health and nutrition programs/activities that meet the needs of the installation community. In the absence of an installation active duty dietitian, serves as the nutrition consultant to the Director Base Medical Service and the Air Force community and its agencies. Coordinates with the installation active duty dietitian (if available), for collaborative efforts
Registered Dietitian with minimum requirement of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in wellness or nutrition education. Master’s degree in nutrition education, public health, and health promotion or community nutrition preferred. Certification in Weight Management by the American Dietetic Association required or must obtain within one year of hire/appointment. Knowledge of wide range of principles, practices and procedures of the science of dietetics required to conduct nutrition program activities, evaluate referrals, and deliver medical nutrition therapy for lifestyle related issues (such as overweight, hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders); Expereince in population health approaches and community nutrition to reach broad audiences is desired. Certification in Basic Life Support is required. Requires BS/BA degree.
