Summary/General Description of Responsibilities:
Performs tasks, which require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. May receive training and certification for asbestos abatement and be required to perform same.
Essential Duties & Functions:
* The following tasks are typical of this occupation.
* Loads trucks, and other conveyances.
* Moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand trucks.
* Stacks materials for storage or binding; collects refuse and excavations; levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake; shovels concrete and snow.
* Cleans culverts and ditches. Cuts trees and brush. Operates power lawn mowers.
* Moves and arranges heavy pieces of household and office furniture, equipment, and appliances.
* Move heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment.
* Spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways; picks up leaves and trash.
* Operates pressure washers and other related tools required to perform tasks assigned.
* May be required to operate on the asbestos removal team.
* May be required to operate on the spill team.
* May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials. Operates jackhammer.
Job Requirements :
Mandatory:
* Little or no specialized skills required.
* Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions and carry them out with minimal supervision.
* Valid State driver’s license required.
* Must have ability to operate a vehicle with straight shift (standard) transmission.
* Must be able and willing to work in all kinds of inclement weather
