Job Description:
Inmate Health is recruiting for a full-time Registered Nurse position at the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC).
ACC is the primary intake facility for the Anchorage area. ACC Medical provides nursing services for various areas including Intake Booking, Medical Office, and Community Residential Centers. Inmate Health provides comprehensive medical care, addressing both chronic and acute health problems.
Under general supervision, the successful candidate will perform the full range of nursing duties. This requires knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing and skill in the application of nursing techniques.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Triage and assessment of patients.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Evaluation of responses to medication.
Provide general nursing care to patients.
Participate in therapeutic activities.
Maintain patient medical records.
Observing, documenting and reporting changes in the physical and mental conditions of the inmates.
Desired strengths that are essential to this position:
Current knowledge of communicable diseases, immunizations, and tuberculosis screening and control.
Ability to function independently and handle crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
Excellent work habits, such as punctuality, attendance and observation of safety regulations.
Ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize workload and maintain flexibility.
Experience working in a correctional setting or comfortable working in a highly secure facility environment.
