Ability to manage ES&H on multiple programs/tasks. Ability to effectively manage contractors. Familiarity with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint.) Presentational skills is a plus.
Specific Job Description This is a Lead Safety Engineering position located in Huntsville, Alabama providing safety support for approximately 750 employees and 250 contractors in a manufacturing environment. Applying extensive knowledge of Industrial Safety and OSHA Federal guidelines, provide safety oversight in Suspended Load Operations, Move Safe Operations, machinery, ergonomics, equipment and working conditions to ensure compliance with command media and occupational, safety and health regulations. Implements creative means to evaluate and develop solutions to complex safety problems. Assist management in investigating industrial and personnel injury accidents to determine root cause, corrective action and ensure Error Prevention techniques are used to minimize recurrence. Takes a proactive approach to safety inspections eliminating hazards before occurrence and developing a safety culture throughout the entire facility that fits a proactive mindset. Guides the successful completion of Space System Company Safety mission and objectives for the safety group and participates with safety working groups for effective horizontal integration. Represents the organization as the prime point of contact for occupational safety issues. Interacts frequently with senior management and external contacts on significant safety matters requiring coordination between organizations. Some travel will be required.
Standard Job Description Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies. Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Organizes and equips spill-control teams. Writes and updates environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures. Prepares environmental impact statements and applies for all new permits and renewals. Provides input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.
Security Clearance Secret
Typical Minimums Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an expert, authority in discipline.
