Primary Purpose: To assist in research projects and related activities under the supervision of the PI, especially as they relate to the application of remote sensing to monitor modern carbonate depositional environments.
Essential Job Functions: 1. Assist in the processing of remote sensing data to resolve benthic character over coral reef environments.
2. Planning and organizing of upcoming workshops.
3. Development and implementation of algorithms to forward the labs capacity.
4. Assist in the assembly of GIS projects and the production of GIS-ready map products.
5. To plan and participate in field surveys and the preparation of reports.
Marginal Job Functions:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Extensive computer software experience, with special attention, but not limited to, expert knowledge of RSI ENVI, ESRI Arc, Deneba Canvas, and MATLAB.
2. Sound knowledge of remote sensing and GIS science supported by an understanding of radiative transfer theory
3. Planning and organizational skills
4. Knowledge of coral reef assessment and monitoring protocols
5. Knowledge in Caribbean, Indian and Pacific Ocean reef invertebrate identification
6. Knowledgeable and proficient in current techniques of remotely monitoring reef systems

Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree
Major (if required): Natural Science/Biology
Required Experience: 1. Minimum 1 year previous lab experience.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Working towards or attained a Masters of Science degree.
2. Current AAUS scientific diver registration and insurance. Minimum PADI Rescue Diver Qualification.
3. Valid U.S. Drivers License.
