Description
We are looking for an experienced, results-driven Senior Merchant Product Manager to help drive our US Automotive and Industrial Supplies businesses. The successful candidate will assist in driving all aspects of demand for third-party merchant items, including daily business analysis, working with our business development/sales team to identify and grow our seller community in new categories, working with editorial and merchandising teams to drive a best-in-class customer experience, and helping to ensure category leadership in both Automotive and Industrial Supplies.
This entails driving growth through timely analysis and recommendations, assistance in managing projects that enable us to build a world class Automotive and Industrial Supplies store, identifying opportunities to maximize selection, and working with our technology teams to enhance our merchandising, customer, and site experience.
The Senior Merchant Product Manager will be a passionate advocate for our customers and sellers within Amazon, with proven analytical capability and project management skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment. He or she must be able to support the category manager in developing new features and services, and interact with editorial, web development and design teams to launch projects that improve our customer experience and drive growth in these businesses. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for retail, a high level of flexibility, commitment, and a sense of humor.
The successful product manager must:
* Assist with forecasting, monitoring, understanding and reporting on the product line, and driving projects and promotions to achieve our business objectives
* Develop a thorough understanding of the Automotive and Industrial Supplies industries, including their and global business trends/events, and will continually monitor competitor/industry developments
* Have a thorough understanding of Automotive customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to help deliver site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience
* Assist in the creation of business plans for new opportunities
* Conduct financial analysis on new opportunities to set and meet sales and profit targets
* Be comfortable in getting hands dirty in day-to-day tasks to get things done
* Have the obsession to drive a better customer experience through everything that we do here at Amazon
* Bring innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better ways of accomplishing our customer objectives
Qualifications
* A strong background (5+ years) in product management is required, preferably within a consumer goods / retail company, e-commerce experience is a plus
* Ability to think both strategically and tactically
* Proven analytical skills and highly comfortable with numbers (includes ability to use tools such as Excel and Access); an understanding of SQL is a strong plus
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate sophisticated projects with various technical/engineering teams
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects – work prioritization, planning and task delegation
* Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
* Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong writing and speaking skills
* BA/BS required and an MBA is preferred
