Job Title: Supervisor, Quality Inspection I
This position is based in Albertville, AL and will support the Performance Excellence organization for the Aviation Programs business area in Support Solutions.
Support Solutions, based in Rockville, Maryland, provides a wide range of services in engineering, system integration, ship repair, and readiness and sustainment for military platforms. Its Technology Solutions & Services unit addresses the full life-cycle needs of U.S. Department of Defense and federal civilian customers with capabilities in systems engineering and technical assistance.
Aerospace Solutions (AS) provides a broad range of technical and professional services; aircraft modernization and sustainment; life-cycle services and support for C4ISR systems and integrated logistics solutions to Department of Defense and national security agency programs.
The QA Supervisor is a working Chief Inspector position in an Aerospace/Aviation environment. The Quality Supervisor operates primarily in a self-directed manner with overall direction from the Manager, Performance Excellence. Supports the effective implementation of quality policies and associated procedures. Provides guidance to quality inspection staff and ensures departments and functions are provided sufficient and timely support. Manages the day-to-day quality inspection functions including staffing levels to ensure the continuous flow of product from suppliers through final acceptance points. Ensures a sense of quality is instilled and maintained in the department.
Manages and supervises subordinate inspectors
Serves as point of contact (POC) for customer, DCMA Quality Assurance Representative, auditors, registrars, etc.
Maintains local quality systems and certifications;
Performs the functions of a working Inspector/Chief Inspector as required in the areas of aircraft, receiving, kitting and any other areas deemed necessary;
Assists in reviews of customer quality requirements for proposals, quotes, contracts, and contract modifications;
Involved in the development and deployment of quality policies and procedures;
Highly skilled in interpreting engineering designs and drawings
Provides technical direction, training, and guidance to lower level technical personnel as may be necessary
Evaluates performance and trains and/or provides training to department personnel;
Responsible for records coordination and retention of the department in cooperation with division records coordinating function;
Actively promotes continuous improvement methods to enhance self, position, department, and division;
Provides coaching for development and growth;
Assists in coordination of corrective action responses to customers as required;
Performs other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma, plus 10 years quality experience.
Three (3) years quality assurance related management and direct supervisory experience in a design, manufacturing or production environment, ISO 9000:2000/AS9100, DOD, and MIL-STD experience a must.
Preferred licenses, experience and knowledge in the following areas:
A&P License
Military aviation maintenance training and experience
FAA experience
Inspection techniques/methods/equipment
ISO 9000 training and experience
AS9100 training and experience
Skilled in the use of measuring/inspection equipment
Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Lean manufacturing concepts
Design of Experiments
Statistical sampling
Configuration management
Supplier quality management
Process capability analysis
Secret Clearance
Government related work and contact with both supplier and customer base experience preferred.
Ability to work independently.
Must demonstrate highly effective written and verbal communication skills, and be able to interface effectively with individuals with diverse responsibilities and backgrounds.
Relevant professional certifications and active participation in related professional societies preferred.
