 Job Posting Summary  The student in this position works under the general direction of the IARC Web Manager and is responsible for assisting with a wide range of projects that may include video journalism, video production, video editing, web design, graphic support, science writing for a general audience, large format printing, troubleshooting of computer systems and software, and general IT support.   
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.  Duties require considerable knowledge and skills.
Strong project management experience and coordination.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Ability to function independently; i.e. stay on task with a minimum of supervision and to exercise independent judgment in decision-making, and seek input from supervisor as needed.
Must have strong computer skills and be able to use and troubleshoot a variety of video and graphic software applications on Mac OS.
Must have demonstrated skill in journalism techniques, video production and editing using industry standard video and audio software and hardware.
Excellent interpersonal skills required. Interacts with UAF faculty, visiting researchers, staff, and students.
Ability to create conceptual storyboards and the skill to transform those concepts into video and graphic products.
Ability to conduct interviews and transform scientific concepts into content for the general public.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Should have basic understanding of graphics for web and be able to use graphic editing software.
Have basic knowledge of HTML.
Ability to do data entry.   
Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).  2 years of undergraduate college minimum   
Length of time and type of experience required for this position.  2 years experience in journalism, video production, editing, web, and graphics   
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position.  Experience with web animation technologies and software such as Flash.
Experience with industry standard graphic software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Fireworks.
Knowledge and experience with a variety of printers, scanners, digital cameras and video systems.
General knowledge of scientific concepts.
Knowledge and experience with video streaming.

A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require
the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
