The Senior Director, Business Development is responsible for the administration of business development activities at the Institute’s Lake Nona site. Responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies for commercializing technologies and assets, establishing new revenue streams and collaborations designed to maximize the value of Institute technologies. Additional duties include drafting business plans concerning Institute technology for potential spin-outs, identifying technologies that complement the Institute’s intellectual property, and serving as a spokesperson and Institute representative to Florida’s business community.
Required Skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Science is required; an advanced degree (MBA and/or Ph.D. in Science) is preferred. An experienced leader with a minimum of seven to ten years of previous experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, and previous experience in business/licensing contracts, patent law or venture capital, prior experience with nonprofit organizations is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex science to non-scientific audiences, as well as have a successful track record of leading negotiations and closing collaborative and/or licensing deals.
