Background / General description:
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), an international organization and member of the World Bank Group (WBG), supports economic growth by promoting private sector development in its developing member countries through long term financing and advisory services. IFC finances investments which have a significant developmental impact, are commercially viable, environmentally sustainable and socially sound. IFC s Agribusiness Department contributes to IFC s program by sourcing, evaluating and executing investments in the food, beverage and agricultural production sectors. The department also supports IFC in delivering advisory services in the above sectors and liaises with its counterparts in the WBG on policy and development issues. IFC is seeking experienced, well qualified specialist in Food, Agriculture, and Livestock respectively.

Duties and Accountabilities:
# Provides authoritative, best practice advice and insights to management and investment staff in the assessment, delivery and supervision of departmental investment programs in the sector concerned.
# Proposes and participates in the development of departmental strategies and policies for the sectors concerned.
# Advises business development staff on regional, country and sector specific issues concerned with new business development.
# Provides input to IFC advisory services units in the development of advisory projects linked to investments or stand alone capacity building.
# Assists in the selection, briefing and supervision of specialist technical consultants engaged on due diligence and advisory services activities.
# Keeps up to date with industry trends and benchmarks and shares knowledge within IFC and to external clients.
# Participates in conferences and seminars and other events appropriate to maintaining and building sector knowledge.
# Establishes client and industry relationships, leveraging these to meet client needs and deliver better business outcomes.
# Recognized within IFC as an authority in one or more key sectors and participates in World Bank Group wide events and specialist working groups.
# Acts as a role model to colleagues and clients by sharing experience, knowledge and advice.

Selection Criteria:
# Qualified to a minimum of first degree in an agricultural, food science/technology/engineering, veterinary or closely related discipline as appropriate for the sector.
# Substantive, broadly based experience in an operational capacity at senior management level in the relevant sector.
# Cross sectoral experience of, or exposure to procurement, operations, engineering, MIS, marketing, sales, distribution, business development, quality and environmental management.
# Sound commercial knowledge of the relevant sector.
# Up-to-date knowledge of operating parameters, capital costs, and market trends in the sector concerned.
# Experience in emerging economies a plus. Skills:
# Excellent task management, evaluation and judgment competencies.
# Fluency in English as a business language with communication skills in one or more other languages an advantage.
# Well developed team skills in both leadership and participatory roles.
# Good written and verbal communication skills coupled with mentoring and motivational competencies.
