5-Assoc Creative Designer – Entry Level Position
Description
Develop original, new designs for automotive vehicles or other products. Work with other design personnel, following design process from the sketch form to the final release of clay model. Decisions made based on established standards and specifications. Work without continual supervision, but is frequently instructed or checked by supervisor.
* Contributes to new designs for automotive vehicles and other GM products
* Makes perspective sketches and renderings in scale and full size sufficient to communicate new design ideal
* Develops two and three- dimensional mock-ups of proposed design solutions
* Works with studio engineers, modelers, other designers and service and fabrication personnel in the development of new ideas in both two and three-dimensional form
* Stays current with design trends
* Presents new thoughts and designs both orally and visually
* Exchanges information with others
* Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
* Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
* Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
* Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
Qualifications
* Ability to communicate new ideas
* Good understanding of form
* Good drawing and graphic skills
* Demonstrated creative proficiency
* Oral and written communications skills
* Analytical ability where problems are not difficult or complex
* Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
* Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
* Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
* Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering preferred
Education and Training
* Bachelor degree with a major in industrial design or equivalent training
