Mechanical Product Design Engineer

Your role will be to develop and adapt new products, special product modifications and engineering techniques for application to our product lines via an on hands approach:
EDUCATION: Minimum of four (4) year college degree in engineering discipline
BS Mechanical Engineering or BS Engineering with primarily mechanical
5- 10 years practical Hands-on experience in the development and design of mobile mechanical equipment, using internal combustion engines. Power
train may be hydrostatic, mechanical or electric.
AUTOCAD, PROE OR Inventor computer software. Knowledge of conceptual analysis, product designs, product implementation, and validation of design.
Product design, reliability, and technical competitiveness: Informing management of changes in competitive products, technical market trends, and available technical development in components and assemblies.
SUPERVISES: Engineering technicians/ draftsman
Schedules workload in accordance with department and management deadlines
Supervises (hands-on) and assists design and layout drafting personnel in the preparation of drawings, calculations, and specifications. Reviews completed drawings and documentation for accuracy of design dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
Establishes product standards, specifications, and tolerances compatible with manufacturing and quality control methods, in conjunction with Corporate V.P. of Engineering.
Must be able to work with customers, dealers, vendors, and governmental agencies.
Will originate and coordinate scheduling of projects, programs, and tasks related to product engineering in a manner that establishes and efficient introduction into the department work schedule.
As required, supervises and assists department personnel in carrying out assignments and, where necessary, expedites product engineering activities to meet established goals.
Represents the department in planning and other meetings to provide assistance and recommendations to resolve engineering problems and technical problems.
Prepares data, reports, and recommendations for submittal to executive staff as basis for product design related decisions on major company growth and objectives.
Conducts meetings as required to aid in communications, problem solving, data gathering, and administration. Requires skillful application of tact and diplomacy when dealing with staff, customers, and vendors to achieve willing action, consent, and cooperation problem solving situations.
Provides on a judgment selective basis, product-engineering information to customers, internal and vendor personnel via oral and written communications.
In conjunction with manufacturing engineering and quality control, provides information and assistance in resolving production and customer problems.
Keeps abreast of and well informed on new developments in the engineering field through contact with educational institutions, professional societies, manufacturers and trade shows, perusal of texts, technical papers, journals, and periodicals and familiar with ASME codes and ANSI standards and other industry related standards.
Keeps a neat, orderly workstation. Must work in a safe manner.
Maintains an acceptable attendance record within the guidelines of the Company’s attendance policy.
Emphasizes compliance with all Company safety rules and regulations.
The job requires occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, with intermittent bending, squatting, walking, and reaching above shoulder level. Continuous sitting for approximately six (6) hours per day, and constant use of the telephone requiring clear and concise speech and hearing ability. May continuously operate a computer/keyboard using repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers with extensive use of the eyes. The job may be exposed to low noise levels.
