The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Territory Sales Manager (Personal Lines) for the Louisiana area.

Position Overview/Summary:
Successfully manage business development within an assigned territory by partnering with existing agents and appointing new ones- to acquire and retain profitable new accounts, while securing better penetration in our agents offices. Partner with State Management and Field leadership to create and execute a multi-year territory strategy that addresses product, pricing, and distribution needs to exceed PLAN in the competitive marketplace.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions (Allocation of time optional. If included, represents estimated time allocation and is subject to change) :
In conjunction with the RVP, conduct business development planning and overall agency management with selected agents located within assigned territory.
Drives and tracks producer performance, portfolio mix, and profitability trends; identifies high potential and at-risk agents and makes recommendations.
Gathers competitive intelligence and shares with internal partners to build a better defensible position.
Prospects and meets agency appointment targets.
Provides Agent and CSR training as necessary.

Time Allocation
80%: Create defensible partnerships with existing and prospective agencies.
Source, appoint and develop longer term agency business relationships
within territory
Conduct an average of 3-4 calls/day, 12-16 calls/week

20%: Create and execute a territory business plan; drive agency management and
individual agency planning

Key Measures of Success (should align with goals):
Knowledge of current business and economic conditions, industry trends, the competition and territory specific issues. Strong business acumen.
Strong sales focus and strong marketing perspective. Driven to achieve and exceed clearly defined metrics (i.e., new premium and new policy goals).
Effective communicator and, specifically, demonstrate formal and informal presentation and negotiation skills that can effectively influence and persuade others.
Create strong defensible partnerships with existing and prospective agencies by driving share-shift to increase Hanover s ranking in the office.
Partner with various parts of the Hanover franchise to exploit every opportunity and solve every problem an agent/client may present.
Effective in cultivating strong business relationships, able to overcome obstacles and find common ground for pursuing business opportunities.
Effective problem solver, anticipate issues, search out and analyze available information

Position Requirements

Required Skills, Key Success Factors and Experience:
Sales experience (3+ years) with a national or regional carrier focused on independent agents.
Preference for employees from national PL carriers that have multi-variate products (Progressive, Hartford, Travelers, Mercury)
PL underwriting and marketing capability.
Understanding of insurance rules and regulations, policy, product, and service requirements.
Onboarding/Assimilation Assumption: 1 to 3 month ramp up (Our story, products, service, technology)
May consider candidates with financial services sales experience
