This position is accountable for developing and executing a purchasing and supplier relations strategy for ferrous metals, i.e., carbon steel, silicon steel, and stainless steel. Performs market analysis and identification of market trends that could affect Schneider Electric (SE) pricing and supply. Responsible for intelligence on competitor’s suppliers and purchasing strategies. Designs strategies to gain an advantage over known competitor practices. Determines appropriate lead-time reduction goals and implements supplier programs, or location specific programs, to achieve lead-time objectives. Monitors supplier Annual Performance Plan process on a quarterly basis and reports on results. Directly participates in the corrective action process for any suppliers not meeting SE performance standards. Collaborates with the Stampings and Sheet Metal Commodity Managers to leverage usage of 2nd tier ferrous consumption.
Manages one direct report based in Mexico. Reports to the Global SE Commodity Director based in France.
Experience Required: 5-7 years experience with Ferrous Metals in purchasing and/or commodity management – experience in steel sourcing
Qualifications: A strong and proven track record of negotiating and leading commodity strategies
Education: Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering. MBA preferred.
