Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Technology Expert, Water Chemistry & Treatment, may include:
* Contributing to an active research program on fundamental new technology development and applied water treatment technologies
* Developing new and/or evaluating existing commercial technology to improve efficiency of fresh water use and treat various produced water streams for recycle/reuse
* Providing consulting and technical expertise to solve HSE and process problems associated with water treatment in ConocoPhillips (COP) field and plant operations
* Interfacing with business development, refineries, Upstream and Downstream Technology groups
* Assisting in the transfer of new technology to field locations in support of technology development activities in R&D through leading research activities, reviewing and assessment of work product, and analysis of the literature
Additional Information
Desire an individual who enjoys working in an R&D environment with focus on identifying and developing technologies for commercial applications. The results of this program should identify solutions which are most suited both to COP’s existing assets and help meet stated objectives for sustainability of our operations. Additionally, a second role anticipated for this position will be to consult in all R&D efforts to develop and implement new technologies for water use, treatment and recycle.
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications
* PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field
* 7+ years of R&D, refinery or business development experience
* Technical proficiency and expert knowledge in the areas of water analytical chemistry and processing/treatment; evidenced by a review of accomplishments, publications, patents.
Preferred Qualifications
* Highly developed understanding of basic laboratory safety principles and engagement in company-wide safety programs. To include, but not limited to, basic hazard reviews, development of standard operating procedures, and behavioral-based safety observation programs.
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Good interpersonal and negotiating ability
* Knowledge and experience in organics removal /silica removal from water
* Experience in technology transfer, establishing partnerships and/or interfacing with business units
