JOB SUMMARY
In this job, you will primarily design, develop, and maintain VB.Net, ASP, and VB 6 applications with Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL back ends. This position requires a mix of solid technical skills and a strong talent for working with people. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced developer with an entrepreneurial flair.
This is a contract (1099) position with an opportunity to become permanent.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Maintain and develop VB.Net and VB 6 applications
● Participate in client meetings to extract business needs for successful technical application implementation
● Create and manage system specifications documents throughout the software development life cycle
● Responsible for assisting in requirements gathering, software design, coding, testing, and maintenance
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
● Must have a minimum of three+ years of strong, recent VB.NET development experience
● Strong knowledge of relational databases required (either Oracle,Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL)
● Must have a minimum of 3+ years of SQL experience and versed in SQL concepts such as triggers, indexes, and stored procedures
● Should have minimum 5+ years over-all experience developing and supporting complex business applications and/or Web applications
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Excellent ability to work independently and as a member of a team
● BS in Computer Science or Business is preferred; may substitute 3 additional years of programming experience
● Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical and/or functional documentation
● Some local (Hartford area) travel to client locations required
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 or 2010, VB.NET 3.0/3.5, ASP.NET 3.0/3.5, ASP.NET AJAX, VB 6
