JOB DESCRIPTION:
Works under the supervision of the Manager of Laboratory Services and/or the Transfusion Services Manager. Performs and interprets designated test procedures in the Rapid Response Laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology as trained. Responsible for adhering to regulations as issued by CAP, AABB, FDA, OSHA and any other applicable regulatory agencies. Performs a variety of laboratory duties following established procedures, protocols and guidelines of the department and/or organization. Performs quality control, trains new employees, adheres to hospital policies, takes part in continuing education and maintains positive interpersonal relationships. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Technologist (MT) ” Three years or more of academic studies at an accredited college. Completion of 12 consecutive months of internship in an accredited school of medical technology leading to a Bachelor’s degree or work experience in a laboratory which qualifies for examination of a national registry Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) ” High school diploma plus two years training from an accredited program. ” Completion of an internship through an accredited school or work experience in a laboratory which qualifies for examination of a national registry ” Ability to use initiative and good judgement ” Ability to read and interpret data ” Ability to work under stress with close attention to details ” Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, public, co-workers and medical staff ” In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon Exempla needs or requirements Medical Technologist (MT) ” National Medical Technologist registration by ASCP or equivalent within 6 months of eligibility. Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) ” National MLT registration by ASCP or equivalent.
