Project
The Environmental Remediation Sector performs environmental investigation, characterization, and clean-up services nationwide for Federal clients, primarily the Department of Defense (DoD) in their environment-related missions. Our work supporting the environment includes identification, investigation, evaluation, and remediation of surface and subsurface sites contaminated with munitions and hazardous waste. Examples of our work supporting the environment include contracts under the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) for detection and clearance of munitions and explosives of concern (MEC); preparation of CERCLA documents including RI/FS work plans, monitoring plans, closure reports, Records of Decisions, and EE/CAs; remedial design; oversight of remedial construction; environmental field sampling; analytical data evaluations, and munitions site inspections. Parsons has developed and implements sustainable remediation technologies like enhanced bioremediation and natural attenuation, and is at the forefront of addressing and remediating chemical warfare agents in the environment.
This position will be based in our Boston, Massachusetts office with occasional travel to remedial or munitions sites undergoing mitigation.
Need
Parsons requires a civil or environmental engineer with experience in munitions response, accurately reviewing environmental sampling data, preparing well written reports, and remedial design or construction. The successful candidate will have experience preparing environmental documents, experience with munitions response sites or munitions Site Inspections, field experience to provide engineering recommendations for remediation, monitoring of impacted groundwater sites, and other site specific mitigation efforts. You will be engaged in writing remedial reports, reviewing site plans and specifications, and assuring adherence to regulatory approved actions and sanctioned environmental engineering and construction practices. This position may also entail preparing schedules and budgets. Good communication, willingness to work as part of a team, and a motivated attitude will be keys to your success.
Specific Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of this position may include:
Performing tasks related to environmental investigation and remediation projects such as field work, sampling, interpreting data and assisting in report preparation.
Preparing reports, including compilation of environmental sampling analysis.
Conducting soil, surface water, groundwater, and sediment sampling programs.
Providing technical guidance for and conducting soil, surface water, groundwater, and sediment sampling programs.
Reviewing regulatory requirements and specifications and ensuring compliance with them.
Conducting design and/or oversight of remedial actions.
Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering or related field. Master’s degree in engineering is a plus.
3 to 8 years of environmental, civil engineering experience (or related field).
Munitions response experience is required
Must write and communicate well and be independent and resourceful
Current HAZWOPER and E.I.T. certifications are preferred
Relocation is not offered for this opportunity, local candidates are preferred
