Position Overview and Responsibilities:

Fleishman-Hillard has an immediate opening in New York for seasoned Managing Supervisor to join our thriving healthcare practice. The position provides the opportunity to develop communications programs for breakthrough pharmaceutical products, to lead a team of professionals, counsel senior members of the marketing brand team of a reputable pharmaceutical company, and direct nationwide integrated communications programs involving media, third party organizations, healthcare professionals and consumers.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned healthcare communicator with a minimum of six years experience supporting media and online strategies for medical society meetings, health education campaigns, health associations and healthcare companies. This individual must possess strong writing skills and ideally, have experience translating complex science issues into consumer-friendly messages and materials. The ideal candidate will also be an early adopter of digital communications and social media.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of comparable experience, preferably in a communications agency, healthcare association or government health agency.
  • Previous experience managing pharmaceutical product communications, healthcare and science programs.
  • Ability to develop relationships with third party organizations, physicians and caregivers, and to attend external meetings and events representing the agency and client (medical conferences, third party events, etc.)
  • Proven understanding of media environment: healthcare trade, national, consumer, business, bylines, spokespersons
  • Ability to determine strategic outreach plans to external audiences: third party organizations, healthcare professionals, media, etc.
  • A collaborative team member and emerging team leader, with strong project management and problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory environment and experience working through all pre- and post- FDA approval phases of a drug launch.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and train junior account staff, provide quality control, determine workflow and assignments.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to develop and to strategically direct the creation of press materials and communications plans.
  • Demonstrated strategic media relations planning, with the ability to develop strong media pitch angles, lead pitch teams and pitch story ideas to reporters.
  • Keen understanding of the role of digital media in integrated communications strategies.
  • Event management experience, including managing timelines and logistics.
  • Excellent budget management and creation, forecasting and administration/operation skills.
  • Strong client relationship skills and the ability to successfully represent FH and client companies to key stakeholders.
  • Track record of acquiring new business – either through the incremental growth of current clients or participation in large- and small-scale new business efforts.
  • Results-focused approach and commitment to go the extra mile for clients and colleagues.
