Job Summary/Basic Function:
Instructor will teach 27-32 hours per academic year of Education courses (EDUC 2110 – Investigating Critical and Contemporary Issues in Education; EDUC 2120 – Exploring Socio-Cultural Perspectives on Diversity in Educational Contexts; EDUC 2130 – Exploring Learning and Teaching), assist with monitoring and placement of students in field experiences, and advise students (both Education majors and others). Instructor will also be expected to observe and mentor part-time faculty, to maintain office hours, to attend meetings, to attend commencements, and to participate in the governance of the college at the department, discipline, campus and college-wide levels. This is a full-time, tenure track position.
Experience
Must be certified or eligible for certification to teach at the K-12 level in the State of Georgia. Full-time experience in teaching at the K-12 level is strongly desired. Prior college teaching experience is also strongly desired.
Education
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Education with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in specific teaching discipline is required. Must be certified or eligible for certification to teach at the K-12 level in the State of Georgia. Doctorate preferred.
Scope/ Impact
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to teach Education Preparation courses on the collegiate level. Excellent communication, organization and teaching skills are needed. Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate student learning. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology is required.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Criminal History Check is required. Must be certified or eligible for certification to teach at the K-12 level in the State of Georgia.
Work Hours:
Position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends).
