The successful candidate will establish and maintain mechanisms for the quality assurance and continual improvement of departmental processes. The Quality Specialist will initiate and drive improvements using experiments and data analysis while supporting the quality goal of reducing variability around targets.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Process Improvements.
• Drive quality improvements/controls into the manufacturing process.
• Lead quality focused process improvements projects.
• Establish value-added quality processes and eliminate waste in the quality system.
• Facilitate Total Quality Managment (”TQM”).
• Train/assist operators with quality systems.
• Communicate quality information to operators and supervisors.
• Utilize quality information to help drive Total Productive Maintenance activities.
• Collect/analyze/utilize quality data to eliminate root cause issues.
• Design and conduct experiments to support quality improvements.
• Establish/maintain control limits and gauge capability studies.
• Availability to work a rotating shift schedule:
  • Day Shift: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Swing Shift: 4:00 p.m. to midnight
  • Graveyard Shift: Midnight to 7:30 a.m.

EXPERIENCE:

• Two (2) or more years of experience in Quality Assurance or related position.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment desired.
• Experience with implementing or participation of new quality systems preferred.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certificate of Quality Engineering (CQE) or Certificate of Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must have demonstrated problem-solving.
• Demonstrated team skills required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and math skills required.
• Excellent independent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Position requires dexterity to handle small parts and ability to stand on concrete floors up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to report, document and present technical subject matter to peers and management in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to leverage basic statistical data analysis methods including statistical process control (”SPC”).
• Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• SAP or other Tier 1 ERP system preferred.
