  12. Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Functions as a professional in the Business Education Department primarily responsible for developing plans and establishing academic support for the information technology (IT) instructional needs of the faculty, staff and students.
    2. Researches and stays current with information on technology and works with faculty and staff to assess the feasibility for educational applications.
    3. Assesses technical requirements and determines and establishes operational procedures to manage and maintain the credit and continuing education computer facilities, computers, and servers.
    4. Manages peripheral equipment to include maintenance of inventory records.
    5. Hires, trains and supervises technical support staff, student assistants and interns.
    6. Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems with Windows based computer work stations and servers.
    7. Manages the maintenance and replacement of equipment to include preparation for purchasing of equipment and supplies following the University of Hawaii procurement system procedures.
    8. Sets up computer workstation, server, and local area network hardware; plans, coordinates, and conducts the installation and configuration of appropriate software.
    9. Restores computer images; update hardware, software licenses and network connectivity status.
    10. Works with faculty to develop plans for departmental technical support. Provides leadership in the development, update and implementation of a technology plan to include budget management, assessment methodology, collection and analysis of data.
    11. Drafts proposals to secure acquisition of technology support for the department’s instructional needs.
    12. Develops training programs for users on supported platforms and software.
    13. Identifies training needs for and assists faculty in the development of online or web-based learning resources and their access by users.
    14. Coordinates and manages the Business, Legal and Technology Education Department computer facilities for all educational programs.
    15. Ensures instructional and open labs are functioning and meet the needs of the business programs.
    16. Manages departmental servers to support instruction including database program maintenance.
    17. Manages applications related to the database environment; coordinates software maintenance activities with faculty to ensure systems and applications availability as required.
    18. Consults with appropriate professionals on specialized, complex problems in a timely manner.
    19. Determines and recommends appropriate security measures.
    20. Works a variable work schedule including rotating shifts and outside normally scheduled work hours that may include day, night, weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.
    21. Functions as a professional in the Business, Legal and Technology Education Department primarily responsible for developing plans and establishing academic support for the information technology (IT) instructional needs of the faculty, staff and students.
    22. Consults regularly with CELTT Coordinator or designees to ensure that all facilities and personnel achieve compliance and alignment with campus technology, telecommunications, distance learning, and information security policies and practices.

    Minimum Qualifications
    1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business, education, social sciences, management information systems, information and computer sciences or related area and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for competences in technical knowledge, critical thinking skills, communication skill and interpersonal skills; or equivalent education/training or experience.
    2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in computer technology support demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
    3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with computer technology support.
    4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the computer technology support.
    5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
    6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
    7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
    8. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
    9. Demonstrated knowledge and demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging and complex user hardware or software problems on PC workstations and servers in a networked TCP/IP environment.
    10. Ability to work a variable work schedule including rotating shifts and outside normally scheduled work hours that may include day, night, weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.
    Desirable Qualifications
    1. Demonstrated implementation of a MAS 90 or 200 accounting information system
    2. Demonstrated skills to manage operations of multiple classroom labs and an open lab and train and supervise student assistants and interns in the operation and maintenance of the labs
    3. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write procedures, reports and proposals, use budget management principles and communicate effectively in a variety of situations
    4. Demonstrated commitment to life long professional development as evidenced through certification, industry recognitions, participation in workshops/classes, etc.
    5. Commitment to the mission and values of the community college with its open-door policy and diverse population and the career and technical and transfer educational goals and objectives of the Business, Legal and Technology Education Department
    6. Functional knowledge of support for online instruction (e.g. Laulima, Blackboard, Podcasting)
    7. Demonstrated ability to implement current network imaging (e.g. PowerQuest, Deploy Center, GHOST).
    8. Familiarity with UH procurement procedures & policies including requisition of hardware, software, books, equipment, assess upgrades/updates, check price lists or contracted vendors, using online SuperQuote system for best price (or equivalent systems).
