Lighthouse Academies of Arkansas is now accepting applications for a Coordinator of Community Outreach and Student Recruitment to work with Lighthouse Academies schools in Arkansas.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES

The Southern Region Coordinator of Community Relations and Student Recruitment is more than an operational support person. Their work helps to transform children’s lives by assisting in the creation of opportunities for a brighter future. We are seeking a Coordinator who will make the commitment to conduct this work with determination, integrity and purpose, embodying these essential qualities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Coordinator is a member of the Regional leadership team and is responsible for marketing the schools in the Southern Region and providing essential information about LHA schools as it relates to our unique educational model, our impact on student achievement, our positive impact on communities and admissions and enrollment. The work of this position includes making vital information available to the community through visits and presentations; working collaboratively with parents, community members and organization to foster awareness, promotion, and supporting a culture of quality education through outreach; planning, and directing. The Coordinator will also support principals and regional leaders in marketing of LHA schools throughout Central Arkansas and will focus on building positive relationships with key community members and organizations. This person must be a creative thinker who is able to problem-solve and implement systems to achieve the primary goal recruiting students to the school.

This person must be able to work in a fast-paced entrpernurial environment where each day will  present new challenges related to the essential functions below:

FUNCTIONS

  • Expose LHA’s mission and vision as outlined in each school’s charter
  • Exhibit a high level of emotional intelligence, able to work with and engage people from various walks of life.
  • Develop and implement a community relations and marketing plan that will impact student recruitment
  • Understand state and national educational requirements as related to charter schools.
  • Performs complex professional work organizing, coordinating and maintaining proactive and comprehensive public information program including communications, marketing, community relations, crises communication and media relations and does related work as required
  • Organize community meetings at various communities
  • Conduct ongoing outreach to families and communities to foster and build positive relationship

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Plans, coordinates and implements public and community relations programs, services and events;
  • Establish community partnerships including an Arts Partner for each school in region.
  • Provides information to the public via news media and various communication avenues such as government information channel and web site;
  • Work with the National Community Development Associate to develop brochures and publications
  • Performs a varkety of miscellaneous duties including making arrangements for school tours and speaking engagements;
  • Monitors citizen’s concerns and request for services and facilitates service delivery as directed;
  • Assists with special event advertising/marketing;
  • Compile and submit recruitment reports to the Vice President
  • Board Development and Recruitment
  • Attend and organize Community Meetings
  • Develop videos, manage website submissions and other forms of public relation mediums, and prepare press releases.
  • Supervise volunteers who may be involved in the recruitment process

  • Reflect critically upon professional experience; identify areas for further professional development as part of a professional development plan that is linked to school and network goals; access meaningful learning experiences; and listen thoughtfully to other viewpoints and respond constructively to suggestions and criticisms.
  • Use feedback to inform and update Individual Professional Development Plan.
  • Fulfill all outlined and related functions professionally, timely and thoroughly.
Skills/Requirements
EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) and/or management related experience of two years or equivalent related work experience to complete the listed duties
  • Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated capacity to manage people in a work setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of methods and practices of the field of journalism; thorough knowledge of the field of public relations; thorough knowledge of English, particularly in the areas of sentence construction and fluidity of style;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously and efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate publishing, video and web editing software
  • Ability to work with computers, various software programs and other technology including social media
  • Ability to fulfill a variety of functions in a team environment without direct supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of management and operations systems and strategies to run an effective organization
  • Knowledge of public education and charter schools highly desirable but not required.
  • Desire to work in a mission and goal driven organization
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
