About the Position: You will serve as a practical nurse in one of several areas of a Medical Treatment Facility performing a variety of treatment procedures and providing nursing care to patients of all ages who are scheduled for treatment of illness, minor surgical procedures, and/or preventive health care.

Moving expenses are not authorized for this position.

    You will prepare and administer prescribed medications by various routes. You will monitor patients for reactions to medications and take appropriate action. You will assist and/or perform specialized and therapeutic procedures by preparing instruments and rooms for procedures, preparing and positioning patients, and setting up specialized equipment. You will perform a variety of diagnostic procedures. You will perform various emergency procedures determining the nature of all emergencies and then take immediate and appropriate action. You will conduct patient/family teaching. You will instruct patients in sound health practices.

    General Schedule

  • Basic Requirements:

    1. LICENSURE: Must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurse in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia. You MUST cite this information on your resume.

    2. Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work, equivalent to at least the next lower level requiring application of knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience which involves all aspects of patient care (such as: vital signs, injections, EKG, nebulizer treatments, medication administration, etc) and medical knowledge as required by the licensure as a practical nurse.

  • The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management’s basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.
