This position will be with US AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of AEGON USA’s operating companies as well as third party clients. Asset classes include public bonds, private placements, commercial mortgage loans, derivatives and alternative investments. Significant funds are invested in nearly every fixed income and real estate sector. The AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Baltimore, Maryland. |

Responsibilities |
 |
AEGON Asset Management has an opening for an Senior Financial Systems Accounting Analyst in the Business Technology Support unit within the Asset Operations department. This position will be responsible for combining accounting, derivatives and financial system knowledge to ensure quality and integrity of data produced by the securities accounting (PAM) and derivatives trading/accounting (Murex) systems. This position will work extensively with numerous departments and associates, ensuring the accuracy of enterprise-wide data.
The primary responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
Provide daily operational support to production and test environments through both manual and automated processes
Accurately set up and maintain information such as portfolios, bank accounts, and general ledger information
Maintain a positive, proactive relationship with customers
Work directly with the vendor to resolve system deficiencies
Efficiently and accurately create, maintain or modify advanced level and/or ad hoc reports
Research and recommend accounting processing treatment for complex accounting transactions within the core system
Create and maintain procedural documentation
Understand the flow of information to identify and resolve problems and/or inefficiencies
Identify opportunities for improvement by exploiting system capabilities to meet divisional and/or department goals
Assist with testing and verification of information processed through software applications as well as new releases, verifying information is correct and reasonable based on accounting knowledge
Assisting in developing test matrices and processes
May serve as a member of divisional project teams and prepare business requirement specification for IT projects
Off hour support will be required periodically |

Qualifications |
 |
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
5 years experience in the institutional securities industry. Derivatives experience is a plus.
Strong computer skills are required. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access). Working knowledge of PAM, Murex or GEAC is a plus.
Ability to juggle numberous tasks and priorities. Acccepting and managing changing priorities and address issues swiftly and professionally.
The candidate must enfoy working in a in a challenging, deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate should also be achievement-oriented and possess advanced creative problem-solving skills. The desired candidate will have demonstrated success as a team player, self-starter, and critical thinker, as well as the ability to maintain positive, proactive relationships with customers. |
