CLINICAL SCIENCE SPECIALIST

Job Responsibilities:

The Clinical Science Specialist is a field-based sales position calling on Health Care Professionals involved in the treatment of End Stage Renal Disease (ERSD) and dialysis patients and responsible for all aspects of sales, market development and strategic business planning and implementation for all products of responsibility. Accounts and customers include nephrologists and their staffs (Renal Dietitians, Physician Assistants, Licensed Nurse Practitioners and social workers) both in private practice and in academic (teaching) centers and hospitals. The products promoted are IV Hectorol, Oral Hectorol and Renvela. The person promoting these products should have a strong background of working through mulit-level selling processes like pharmacy and therapeutics committees at hospitals, or some type of account selling background.

The position will be responsible for the following:

* Achieving and exceeding assigned monthly, quarterly and annual sales quotas.
* Meeting and supporting the Therapeutics business unit objectives.
* Establishing and maintaining rapport with key customers.
* Achieve program objectives within a geographically defined area.
* Attend local, regional and national meetings as directed.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and a minimum of 5-8 years of pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience and knowledge of the position’s territory.

The Bothell, WA facility is currently hiring for a QC Analyst II. The QC Analyst II performs analytical testing of raw materials used in the GMP manufacture of Leukine to verify their identity and quality. Assurance of raw material quality is essential both for regulatory compliance and minimization of business risks involved in biopharmaceutical manufacture.

The QC Analyst II will be tasked with and responsible for, but not limited, the following:

* Following cGMP practices
* Raw Materials inspection, sampling, and analytical testing per compendial monographs and in-house SOPs
* Peer review of data
* Results entry and verification in SAP and LIMS databases
* Periodic review and revision of SOPs
* Performing scheduled and corrective maintenance of analytical instruments
* Logging receipt of environmental monitoring samples
* Executing instrument qualifications
* Other projects as needed

Work Relationships:

* QCRM staff are often called upon to collaborate with each other to optimize lab techniques, and will also perform review of their peer’s work.
* QCRM staff have direct contact with our internal customers in Materials Management and Production to update them on the disposition status of materials.
* QCRM staff also work with Quality Assurance to document SOP revisions, lab investigations, and deviations, when they occur.
* QCRM staff may also maintain relationships with suppliers of raw materials to obtain information relevant to the quality of the products purchased by Materials Management.

Qualifications
:

* BA/BS degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related science
* 1-3 years experience in a cGMP Quality Control analytical laboratory in a regulated environment, preferably in the Pharmaceutical industry

Understanding of cGMP principles

Concise and accurate verbal and written communication skills
*
Familiarity with compendial (USP/NF, ACS) testing methods
*
Proficiency in any or all of the following techniques: pH testing, UV/Vis spectrophotometrey, FTIR spectrometry, GC, HPLC, manual and automated titrations, Karl Fischer coulometry, Total Organic Carbon testing, conductivity measurement, elemental analysis, density testing, refractive index testing, polarimetry, chemical identity testing

Regulation knowledge and environmental requirements
*
Experience with aseptic technique and tissue culture

As a Laboratory Technician, you will assist in the development of expression/purification platforms for the generation of recombinant and native proteins. This includes molecular, biological and cellular manipulations necessary to generate prokaryotic and eukaryotic production strains.

More specifically, you will:
- generate bacterial, baculoviral, or eukaryotic vectors for the expression of key proteins
- introduce vectors into target cells
- optimize expression conditions to maximize yield of active protein
- develop scalable harvest/lysis conditions to maximize yield
- maintain and scale-up cultures to produce needed material quantities
- design and execute optimal purification processes
- conduct in-process/release testing of target protein by SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, immunoassays, and protein concentration determinations
- perform general lab upkeep and other duties as assigned.

To qualify for this role, you need:
- a BS or MS in biology, biochemistry, or related field
- Practical work experience in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, transformation, etc.)
- Practical work experience in culturing of bacterial, insect, and mammalian hosts
- Practical work experience in recombinant protein purification and generation of recombinant expression strains
- Familiarity with BSL-2 work practices and willingness to work in BSL-2 and in a 4-degree Celsius coldroom.

Job Duties:
- Applies clinical knowledge for review of Health Hazard Evaluations and complaint files
- Conducts follow-up contact with applicable parties (R&D, operations, marketing, surgeons, etc.) to gather pertinent information to complete evaluations for risk assessment/complaint files

- Reviews documentation to FDA for accuracy and for field communications when initiating Field Actions (recalls) to ensure all risks have been incorporated
- Applies clinical experience to complete complaint files associated with rationale for adverse event reporting
- Ensures a uniform reporting is applied across all Stryker divisions for adverse event reporting and risk evaluation
- Maintains database for tracking and provides metrics
